DIMAKO'S BLOG 另发神经元

Hey churka!

November 6th, 2009

It’s been a while since I updated my blog. The reason for that is that I am working hard on few projects, really exciting ones and with both hands and legs shaking can’t wait till I will be able to show you what was done there. Everything can be found on my current portfolio web page www.mynameisdimako.com agh yeah.. it’s my brand new, super fresh and slick portfolio ready for you to share with others :-) Great thank you goes to cargocollective.com for the engine and love creating it. Write them a line and get yourself super cool engine for portfolio or whatever you think you need a web page. They are quite open.

Today I had super busy and kinda trashed day. For those who know me well its not new that I’m in a bit crappy situation right know at least was before today. As I moved to Copenhagen I was living in different places, most of the time at friends’ flats or rooms and today I finally got my own place to live / work / study and stay for n amount of time. Yau! I was really pumped up during all the day and at the evening my Wacom tablet made a joke on me and stopped working properly. So now I need new tablet ASAP. Decision is to buy Intuos4 small tablet I’ll tell how is it after I get it.

So that’s it for today. Just wanted to say that I am alive. Hopefully after my moving I’ll post some personal projects here.

Online Editors

October 17th, 2009

Today’s post will be about online graphic tools. Sometimes you are away from your computer (sitting somewhere at the airport’s internet cafe for instance) when you need to edit some pictures or draw something that your client needs ASAP and you can’t refuse doing it.

Here are some tools for helping you. While testing them I had been searching for things that are very important for me and my way of working with graphic editors. First of all I need to have layers and selection tools i order to make simple work very fast.

72photos
http://72photos.com
Good for photo editing. Can control some effects, few filters, sharpness tools. Nothing special. Not suitable for me.

Photoshop Express
http://photoshop.com/express
Even though that it has similar name to our most wanted and loved editor it has huge lack of it’s functionality. You can do there some basic photo editing such as: cropping / resizing / red-eye removing / sharpening etc. Big plus is that it work with video.

Phoenix
http://a.viary.com/tools/phoenix
Here we have really nice tool, a bit buggy in saving photos (can crash) but yet the most user-friendly and has all tools that you need. Moreover it can work with external URL, I mean you can not only upload pictures into it, but also use URL to the picture without uploading it from your’s computer.

Pixlr
http://www.pixlr.com/app/
Very powerful editor with lots of functions inside and really nice interface. Sill a bit slow, don’t forget that it’s online. Has URL picture upload too. Interface is very similar to Photoshop.

Splashup
http://www.splashup.com/splashup/
Great interface, works fine, has all necessary functions to work online. Has ability to upload pictures from all the famous image hostings and external URLs. Probably the best from the list.

I made it!

Finally after few hours of coding and googling for answers to strange (sometimes silly) questions I got to the point when I can say that my blog is ready to use. Great thank you goes to Mindaugas for helping me with some of the stuff. Still need to figure out how to customize header but not today for sure.

Related links:

  • Mindaugas’ works – maybe he doesn’t have a lot of them, but check out his code (if you know what I mean)
  • W3Schools – Great resource for those who want to know something bout HTML, CSS etc.

Welcome!

October 14th, 2009

Welcome! Here’s the new internal blog of mine. I’ve been opening and closing lot’s of blogs on the web and now finally decided to install it on my web page. The main purpose of this blog will be to show you guys what I do from day to day. I’ll try to post some thoughts about design or whatever else that comes to my mind every day. Some of the writings will be dedicated to things that I want never to forget. And also, to be honest, I want to improve my language skills by writing everything in English.

The image above was created while playing around with Cinema 4d (inspired by Nick Campbell). Check out his blog it has bunch of great stuff there.

See you soon!
